November’s Bookish Adventure: Picture Books, Heritage Celebrations, Kindness, and Family Fun!

Hey, children’s book lovers!

November is upon us, and it’s the perfect time to embark on an exciting reading adventure with your young bookworms! To celebrate Picture Book Month, Native American Heritage Month, Election Day, World Kindness Day, and the joy of gathering with family, we’ve created 10 engaging mini-goals that promise a month of exploration and bonding.

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the goals we have in store for you:

Bookish Ballots:  Choose an age-appropriate book about elections, leadership, or democracy. Have a family discussion about the importance of voting and why it matters. (Election Day: November 7th)

World Kindness & Family:  Select a book that emphasizes kindness and empathy. After reading, encourage your child to perform a random act of kindness for a family member and share the heartwarming story with us. (World Kindness Day: November 13th)

Native American Legends: Explore a book that delves into Native American culture, legends, or history. Share what you’ve learned and try your hand at a Native American-inspired craft together.

Picture Book Paradise: Select a beautifully illustrated picture book to read with your child. After reading, draw your favorite scene from the book and share it with us. 📸 (November is Picture Book Month)

Let’s make November a month filled with captivating stories, cultural exploration, civic engagement, kindness, and cherished family moments through the power of reading! 📚

P.S. Don’t forget to share your favorite books with us in the comments below. We love hearing about what you’re reading and what you love about it!

Share your progress with us on social media using the hashtag #SOCWReadingChallenge, and we’ll feature some of our favorites throughout the month. We can’t wait to see what you all come up with! Happy reading!

Kanika Mobley

Hi! I'm Kanika. I'm a mother and 20+ year educator. I started my career as a kindergarten teacher and fell in love with helping kids discover their reading identities. As they asked for certain books, I tried with all my might to keep the classroom library filled with high-engaging books that were both mirrors and windows for their experiences.

  1. How can I add my 2 new children’s picture books, with African-American characters, to the list: MY KARAOKE DAY WITH SHAH THE RAPPER and MY DAD IS MY GOLF COACH? Both on AMAZON.
