June Jamboread: A Colorful Reading Challenge for Kids

Hey, children’s book lovers!

June offers so many more opportunities for kids to dive into a new reading adventure. Whether they are getting started with their summer vacation or finishing the last few weeks of school, this colorful reading challenge is perfect for them. It’s just the right time to find some new books to keep them reading all summer.

We’ve got 10 mini goals lined up for your little bookworms that celebrate Pride, Father’s Day, and Juneteenth. And you know what? We’ve spiced things up with some activities to extend the reading and a few fun ways to read. Let’s dive right into it!

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the goals we have in store for you:

Pride: Read a book about a historical figure from the LGBTQ+ community.

Father’s Day: Write a heartfelt letter or draw a picture to express your appreciation for your dad or a father figure in your life.

Juneteenth:  Read a book that explores the significance of Juneteenth and share 3 interesting facts.

We hope these mini goals will bring joy, laughter, and plenty of memorable moments during the June Jamboread.

P.S. Don’t forget to share your favorite books with us in the comments below. We love hearing about what you’re reading and what you love about it!

Share your progress with us on social media using the hashtag #SOCWReadingChallenge, and we’ll feature some of our favorites throughout the month. We can’t wait to see the magic unfold! Happy reading!

Kanika Mobley

Hi! I'm Kanika. I'm a mother and 20+ year educator. I started my career as a kindergarten teacher and fell in love with helping kids discover their reading identities. As they asked for certain books, I tried with all my might to keep the classroom library filled with high-engaging books that were both mirrors and windows for their experiences.
